Avoid sodas because there are studies showing the negative effects of sodas on kidney function especially among women.

2. Fruits and Vegetables with Low Potassium Content

Potassium is important for muscle and nerve function. It is a mineral that is preset in many fruits and vegetables. However, if you have a kidney problem, it is important to control the right level of potassium in your blood. A high potassium level makes you more prone to heart attack and stroke. You therefore have to limit your intake of fruits and vegetables that are high in potassium.

Fruits such as apples, pears, grapes, blueberries, and cranberries are low in potassium and are good for a healthy kidney. For vegetables, good choices include onions, fennel, spinach, zucchini, peas, celery beets, asparagus, and string beans. Beans, corn, rice, and pasta are also okay.

3. Foods Rich in Iron

People who are suffering from kidney diseases may be low in iron. The kidney plays an important role in the production of red blood cells. But if it is not functioning effectively, the production of the red blood cells may also be affected. As a result, you will have lower energy level. To help supply the deficiency, it is recommended to eat foods that are rich in iron such as green leafy vegetables, red meat, eggs, and iron-enriched grains and cereals.

4. Fiber-Rich Foods

Fiber-rich foods are also beneficial to have a healthy kidney. Many fiber-rich foods contain a compound called phytate which helps prevent the crystallization of calcium salts that lead to kidney stones. Wheat, rice bran, and legumes are rich in phytate.

5. Seafoods and Sea Grasses

Seafoods as well as sea grasses also promote a healthy kidney. These include sardines, fishes, kelp, and nori among others.

The foods mentioned above can greatly help you achieve a healthy kidney. Apart from healthy foods, it will also help your kidney if you have a healthy lifestyle. A healthy lifestyle includes controlling your diet, exercising regularly, and getting enough sleep.
